SOBREGRABADO / OVER RECORDED (Plurinational Eduardo Abaroa Award – Best Contemporary Dance Solo) is a contemporary dance piece developed from the idea of encountering “the Other.”
Initially, its premise draws from Andean symbolism, where mirrors—used in the Tinku dance, represent an extension of the body, as well as tools of seduction, communication, and encounter.
The piece approaches the encounter with the Other as a recognition of oneself through the mirror, and through the movement language of Tinku, which is traditionally a ritual encounter. In this way, the moving body holds energy, transforms it, and turns it into ritual.
